From Critical Overdose To Sustained Recovery

A 31-year-old man from Assam recovered from heroin overdose and opioid dependence through coordinated medical care at AIIMS Guwahati.

• He was admitted to AIIMS Guwahati with severe respiratory depression and diagnosed with Hepatitis C.
• He received Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) using buprenorphine and Hepatitis C treatment at the Neuropsychiatry ward.
• After discharge, he continued treatment under medical supervision, including buprenorphine-naloxone medication.
• He secured employment within two to three months of recovery.
• He has maintained abstinence from substance use for over a year without relapse.
