Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana Strengthens Integrated Care and Support for Senior Citizens
The Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) strengthens care for senior citizens through its Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens (IPSrC), State Action Plan for Senior Citizens (SAPSrC), and Regional Resource and Training Centres (RRTCs).
Important points
- Under IPSrC, 764 Senior Citizen Homes, 13 Continuous Care Homes, 17 Mobile Medicare Units, and 3 Physiotherapy Clinics are supported.
- Annual financial support of ₹19.58 lakh is extended to each Regional Resource and Training Centre (RRTC).
- States and Union Territories may utilise up to 20 per cent of their allocated funds for state-specific programmes.
- The State Action Plan for Senior Citizens (SAPSrC) funds initiatives such as developing trained geriatric caregivers and special cataract surgery drives.
