Cabinet creates a pathway for all Agniveers to be absorbed in Defence Forces

The Cabinet approved a second engagement period of two years for 75% of Agniveers, followed by enrollment as regular soldiers, creating a pathway for all Agniveers to be absorbed into the Defence Forces.

• Based on merit, 25% of Agniveers will be offered regular employment in the Defence Forces.
• The second engagement period of two years will have higher remuneration, an enhanced Seva Nidhi package, and seniority benefits.
• After four years, the Agnipath Scheme saw increased recruitment footprint, standardized processes, and opened various Defence Forces branches for women.
• The scheme will continue based on its efficacy and the performance of Agniveers.
