Indian Railways Registers Freight Loading of 145.07 Million Tonnes in October 2026

Indian Railways registered its highest-ever freight loading of 145.07 million tonnes in October 2026, an 8.32 per cent increase from October 2025.

• Freight loading in October 2026 reached 145.07 million tonnes compared to 133.93 million tonnes in October 2025.
• Domestic coal transportation increased by 19.5 per cent to an average of 469.8 rakes per day.
• Total freight loaded during April-October 2026 was 978.78 million tonnes, up from 935.10 million tonnes in the same period in 2025.
• Passenger traffic for October 2026 was 64.72 crore, compared to 63.52 crore in October 2025.
• Non-Suburban passenger segment grew by 4.2 per cent, while Suburban segment grew by 1.7 per cent.
